Who was Gordon Sinclair
Gordon Sinclair was known as a ‘speak your mind’ kind of guy. Even in 1973 he stood out as bold individual, so much so there is a Gordon Sinclair Award given to journalists that have outspoken opinions and integrity in broadcasting. That kind of straight talk is heard far less and is needed far more these days.
On June 5, 1973 Gordon Sinclair read in the morning paper that the American Red Cross was broke. He quickly wrote ‘The Americans’ a few minutes before his radio program. This editorial gained mammoth momentum and was printed and heard around the world. The message? America is a great country, always there to help and receives nothing in return. In the end Sinclair earned more than a million dollars from this editorial. He donated every cent to the American Red Cross.
Who am I? I’m Jennifer Sinclair. Gordon was my grandfather. Shop my store. I too, in Sinclair fashion, will donate every penny of profit to The American Red Cross.
Thank you America!
